The NAEYC website has so much to offer families and even professionals. I have always used this website as a reference when writing reports or even just gaining more information about my own children and their education or just development. After exploring the website more I was able to find that there are numerous articles that go from understanding the importance of play to understand why a child is developing in such a manner. I followed a link that emphasized play being important and I was pleased to find research articles, statistics, and even blogs about how to incorporate play in a child’s day.
Unfortunately I don’t receive and any newsletters from this website because you have to be a member but I’m sure if I did it would be more useful information that I could apply in my everyday life or even in my classroom. The website does have a lot of positive articles in relation to equity. One article that stood out to me was titled “Diversity, Equity, and Cultural competency” the title alone touched on everything that we’ve discussed in this course so far which was amazing to me. Reading further it gave tools to further increase your knowledge and provide ways to incorporate these concepts in your classroom.
The only new insight I’ve gained from this website is the amount of things you can’t search for and find information. Anything related to education that I’ve needed more information about I’ve been able to find on this website which makes this my number one go to site when I need clarity, understanding, etc.

ReplyDeleteHi Jazmine,
ReplyDeleteThe NAEYC website is a powerful tool for early childhood educators and families. I really appreciate that you looked through the resources and links through an educator lens and parental lens. Many times we professionals find wonderful resources and valuable information but forget to pass that on to the families of children. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Jazmine, I really like the NAEYC website as well. There are lots of information on this site for early childhood professionals as well of providers. You mentioned the importance of play. I believe play really helps children and so many ways. I didn't realize how important play is until working in early childhood and researching the information on the sites and in our class resources. Thanks for sharing information about NAEYC. I plan to use the website to help me gain more information about early childhood.
