Professional goals, hopes, and dreams

Working for a private school in Pennsylvania what is discussed here is different from being in a public school. From their days off to even the core standards they focus on. When I think about the varied differences I know that the changes they make each year whether big or small are all in regards to high quality education. The current discussion is scheduling for next year. My school is focusing on increasing academic time that’s both functional for children and teachers. They’ve surveyed and interviewed teachers to see what will work best for their education and the results should be discussed soon.

With these changes the professional development will continue as usual but will be tinkered to help guide educators in the right direction. For example, last year they changed the Pre-K program to incorporate handwriting without tears. It’s been an adjustment for the Pre-K teachers but none the less with professional development taking place quarterly if not more frequently it’s become successful. Additionally, there are weekly staff meetings that help support educators in any questions they may have as well.

Professionally, I hope to continue down my educational path to graduation and eventually become a professor at one of the many elite schools Pennsylvania has to offer. My dream is to be successful and be able to share my wealth of knowledge, stories, and history within the education field with others and serve as a mentor in high quality early child care centers.

  2. We also use the Handwriting Without Tears in our PreK program. I feel that it is a good compromise with a balance of academics and hands on activities. The children really seem to enjoy the program too. Thanks for sharing!
